Oh seals deal to Genk as Celtic wait on Idah

Hyeon-gyu Oh today left Celtic to join Belgian side KRC Genk in a deal worth around £4.5m to Celtic, with both clubs officially confirming the transfer on their official social media channels.

The transfer of the South Korean striker surely indicated that the long touted incoming transfer of Adam Idah will now be happening imminently. It’s that or Celtic have let Rocco Vata and Oh leave the club, leaving only Kyogo as the loan striker in the squad.

Oh showed some promise in a Celtic shirt, but was probably always just a little short in being good enough to earn a regular starting spot. He was an Ange Postecolgou signing who ultimately didn’t do enough to impress Brendan Rodgers.

And Rodgers brought in Idah in the January window, a move that was great for both the club and the player and both want a quick transfer from Norwich. However the first two lowball Celtic offers have already been thrown out.

Do Celtic know the price needed to shift Norwich’s stance and will that now be met with the transfer of Oh being concluded? We’ll find out this week.
