Former Celtic wingback Jeremie Frimpong yesterday posted two images of the silverware he’s helped win at both Celtic and his current club Bayer Leverkusen and it is quite remarkable really.

A treble in Scotland with Celtic isn’t easy but to go to play in the Bundesliga for Leverkusen, to complete a domestic season unbeaten to become German Invincibles and to leave Bayern Munich empty-handed (despite all those goals from the England captain Harry Kane) is sensational.

The only blemish was somewhat surprisingly losing the Europa League Final to Italian side Atalanta (that was their first trophy since the early 1960s) but Leverkusen reaching a Europa League Final is a notable achievement in itself.

Add to that that young Frimpong has broken into the Dutch national side and is also regarded as one of the top wing-backs in the European game, with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid reportedly monitoring his situation at Leverkusen.

Celtic have a lucrative sell-on clause in any future deal so will be hoping that Jeremie is up for another challenge and heads to one of the top teams in Europe for a big fee. Maybe he’ll even win another treble while there!
