OGC Nice’s Victor Orakpo (19) is set to depart the Allianz Riviera for the coming season in order to earn some game time in Ligue 2, as per a report from L’Équipe.
The Nigerian, prolific in his short stint with Nice’s reserves following his arrival, made his first-team debut last season. There was the chance for significant game time given that his compatriot, Terem Moffi, suffered an ACL injury in pre-season and missed much of the campaign.
However, Orakpo also struggled with injuries and so failed to fully capitalise on the opening. He made four substitute appearances in Ligue 1 and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Europa League. He failed to net his first goal for Le Gym in that time.
It has now been decided that he will spend the season on loan. Montpellier HSC have reached an agreement to loan to striker. That deal does not include a buy option. Orakpo is expected to undergo his medical on Monday.
