West Bromwich Albion have confirmed the signing of Yann M’Vila (33) on a short-term deal. The Frenchman joins the Baggies on a contract that runs until the end of the season.

M’Vila has been without a club since leaving Olympiacos at the end of the 2022/23 season. The Frenchman had been keen to find a new club, multiplying his media appearances in order to raise his visibility. He notably cited a potential return to Sunderland, where he has previously spent one season, whilst a return to Ligue 1 was also an option.

West Brom to be ‘patient’ with M’Vila

However, M’Vila will ultimately feature for Sunderland’s Championship rivals West Brom. The Frenchman, who has been capped 22 times for Les Bleus, will wear the No.22 shirt for his new club. West Brom are currently in a fight for promotion. The Midland clubs are currently fifth in the Championship and well in contention for a play-off spot come the end of the season.

WBA manager Carlos Corberán has said that the club will have to be “patient” with M’Vila given tha he is yet to feature in a competitive match so far this season.
