Nicolas Cozza (25) has officially completed his move from VfL Wolfsburg to FC Nantes on a loan lasting until the end of the season.
The fullback comes in to cover the significant left-back crisis at the club after Nantes sold both Quentin Merlin and Jaouen Hadjam in the winter transfer window.
Les Canaris had originally attempted to fill this position with RC Lens’s Massadio Haïdara (31) but despite agreeing to terms with the player they were met with a significant stumbling block.
Lens were only willing to allow Haïdara to leave if they could bring in a replacement before the end of the transfer window, and to Les Sang et Or’s credit, it was not through lack of trying that they failed to bring in cover.
Franck Haise’s side were active but unable to help and Nantes had to turn elsewhere. This led them to Cozza, the former Montpellier man had failed to settle after his move to the Bundesliga last January.
Cozza has only made six appearances for Wolfsburg and was allowed to find more regular football, and at Nantes, the left-back may find exactly that.
