VfB Stuttgart have announced the signing of Germany under-19 captain Noah Darvich from Barcelona on a permanent basis.

The 18-year-old signs a contract at the MHP Arena until 2029 and joins for a fee of just under €1m, reports kicker. Previous reports also indicate that the deal does not contain a release clause or a buy-back clause for Barcelona.

Darvich moved to Catalonia from Freiburg in 2023 but was never able to make inroads from La Masia to the first team.

On moving to Stuttgart, Darvich said:

“I’m delighted that the move to VfB and thus to such a special club worked out. Even during my time at FC Barcelona, I regularly watched the Bundesliga and followed VfB’s remarkable journey. Now I want to settle in quickly, get to know my teammates, and simply work hard to develop further at VfB and be successful with the club.”

Darvich is reportedly not seen as the immediate replacement for Enzo Millot at Stuttgart. The Frenchman’s future is still up in the air, and if he does leave this summer, then VfB will look to sign a replacement for the Olympic Silver Medalist.

Stuttgart have shown that they are one of the best places for young players to develop in Germany in recent years. Nick Woltemade is the best example of this after joining from Werder Bremen on a free transfer last summer, and could now leave for north of €60m this summer if Stuttgart get their way.
