Spain will face off against France in a little while the second semi-final of the UEFA Nations League, with a spot against Portugal in the final on the line.
Ahead of the game at the MHBArena in Stuttgart, Luis de la Fuente has announced the La Roja starting lineup with two Barcelona stars featuring.
Indeed, Pedri and Lamine Yamal start for Spain as they get set to take on Didier Deschamps’ side.
However, there is no place in the team for the other four Barça stars in the squad – Pau Cubarsi, Gavi, Fermin Lopez, and Dani Olmo.
Unai Simon of Athletic Club starts in goal while Robin Le Normand and Dean Huijsen have been preferred over Cubarsi as the centre-backs. Pedro Porro and ex-Barcelona player Marc Cucurella start as the full-backs.
Accompanying Pedri in midfield are Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad and Arsenal’s Mikel Merino while Nico Williams and Mikel Oyarzabal partner Lamine in the frontline.
All eyes will be on the 17-year-old sensation, who scored a stunning goal against France back in the UEFA Euro 2024 last summer, with tonight’s game being seen as a square-off between him and Ousmane Dembele for the Ballon d’Or.
