Igor Tudor has officially resigned from his post as head coach of Lazio, less than three months after he was called in to replace Maurizio Sarri, who also stepped down from the position in March.

Sky Sport Italia and multiple other outlets in Italy had report that Tudor is expected to explain his decision in a final press conference on Friday.

Sky suggest that ‘the differences’ in vision between Lazio and Tudor are too great for the coach to continue.

Tudor is expected to officially announce his resignation in a press conference on Friday.

The coach was in Rome at the beginning of the week and met with directors from the club on Tuesday, presumably to discuss his future with the club.

Sky suggest that Lazio are already considering possible replacements for Tudor, and that the current frontrunner is Hellas Verona coach Marco Baroni, who has also reportedly spoken with Monza after the departure of Raffaele Palladino for Fiorentina.

Tudor time with Lazio thus far

Tudor was called in to replace Maurizio Sarri with just over two months of the season remaining. His predecessor handed in his resignation in March after a run of four defeats, which included a round of 16 exit to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The coach signed a one-and-a-half-year deal at the time, with a club option for a further year, which means that he will terminate his contract one year ahead of schedule.

Since his appointment at the Stadio Olimpico, Tudor has overseen 11 competitive matches, posting a respectable record of six wins, three draws and two losses. He and his team did enough to qualify for the 2024-25 edition of the Europa League.
