Thomas Muller has returned to Bayern Munich training today, according to a video shared by the club on social media.

Muller tested positive for coronavirus the day before Bayern’s FIFA Club World Cup final, and had to miss the 1-0 win over Tigres in Qatar.

He was isolated at home for nearly two weeks, and also missed Tuesday’s 4-1 victory over Lazio in the Champions League.

The club has officially announced that the 31-year-old has completed the 14-day mandatory quarantine period and was able to return to training this morning after testing negative.

The statement read:

Müller was able to train at Säbener Straße again on Thursday for the first time after a period of self-isolating at home due to testing positive for COVID-19. Following final medical tests in the morning, the 31-year-old completed an individual session on the pitch alongside team training under the guidance of fitness boss Prof Dr. Holger Broich.

The news, no doubt, comes as a huge relief to Hansi Flick, who has had to deal with several key players ruled out in recent weeks.

Muller’s training session lasted around 50-minutes, according to Bild. He took part in heading and passing exercises, accompanied by an alternating sprint, followed by a few easy duels with Dr. Broich at the end.

Bild also noted that Muller greeted Marc Roca at the start of the day by showing off his six-pack abs and exchanging a few words.

While the weekend’s game with FC Koln might come a tad too soon for the Bayern vice-captain, he should certainly be back in contention to start Der Klassiker against Borussia Dortmund next weekend.
