Olympique Lyonnais have announced the transfer of Swedish striker Amin Sarr (21) from Dutch outfit Heerenveen. The signing fee is estimated at €11m plus €1m worth of bonuses.
Sarr was signed by Heerenveen a year ago from Swedish club Malmö FF, and the Swedish youth international has five goals and five assists in the Eredivisie this season and caught the eye of Les Gones, who were in the market for offensive reinforcements. With Sweden’s U21 squad, Sarr registered three strikes in ten games. “I’ve known OL since I was little. It is one of the biggest French clubs. I am very happy to sign here and hope to do my best to help the team achieve their goals. I can’t wait to start, to discover my teammates as well as the supporters.“, said Sarr.
The 21-year-old will be the third Swedish player in Lyon’s history following Kim Kallström (2006-2012) and Ake Hjalmarsson (1953-1955). OL were in the market for a striker after the loan move of Karl Toko Ekambi (30) to Rennes and the departure of Shakhtar loanee Tetê (22) to Leicester City. The club tried to sign French Lokomotiv Moscow forward Wilson Isidor as well, but the deal collapsed as the Rennes-born player failed his medical. Meanwhile, Botafogo winger Jeffinho (23) is also expected to put pen to paper with the Rhône outfit.
