Official Supporters Clubs across Malaysia recently held an open day as they look to grow their membership and connect further with local communities in the country.

Along with 13 branch leaders, around 100 people attended an event where branches arranged quizzes, official merchandise, an FC24 tournament and an exhibition showcasing the 13 plaques the branches have received to recognise their official status.

We spoke with Taleeb, Chair of the Selangor branch who helped deliver the event for fans across Malaysia.

"The purpose of our OSC Open Day was to create more awareness and to bring the spirit of Manchester City closer to fans in rural areas," he began.

"I believe our fans in Malaysia are growing positively.

"We are working together and managing to officially collaborate with Paralympic Council Malaysia (PCM) to create an inclusive and diverse community of City fans in our country, showing that everyone can support our beloved football club."

"During the event, we provided a fundraising opportunity to help those who were affected by floods in certain parts of our country including, Johor, Selangor, Perak, Terengganu and Kelantan with £500 being raised.

"Our goal is to create a diverse and inclusive place for all to join our supporters club.

We are right now planning to do more tour and charity events where I believe the community will most likely be more interested to join our supporters club with more activities and volunteering.

"The event has been very impactful as we are recruiting new members and fans from the outskirt areas and rural communities.

"On top of that, new members are also joining our branches and stand a chance to see by themselves the official plaques, official City merchandise, official City kits and collaborated with PUMA Malaysia for that purpose.

"Lastly, we are planning to do this event annually or maybe doing it regionally; east, west, north and south."

We’re extremely grateful to Taleeb and our branches in Malaysia for the incredible community work delivered since their inception.
