VfB Stuttgart’s signing of Algerian attacker Badredine Bouanani has been officially confirmed. The 20-year-old inked a deal with his new Bundesliga club valid until 2030. Kicker reports that Stuttgart have spent €15m to acquire the OGC Nice man.
At the same time as Bouanani’s unveiling, Stuttgart also confirmed attacker Deniz Undav’s injury diagnosis. The German international underwent an MRI yesterday after exiting proceedings early in a league encounter against Gladbach. A medial ligament tear will keep Undav out for at least six weeks.
Bouanani’s signing should be followed up by the arrival of another North African attacker, 21-times-capped Moroccan international Bilal El Khannouss of Leicester City. The Swabians continue to react swiftly to loss of both Undav and his fellow German international Nick Woltemade.
“Badredine Bouanani is a player we have had our eye on for quite some time,” VfB board-member-for-sport Fabian Wohlgemuth noted in a club statement. “He is versatile in attack and, despite his young age, already has international experience in European competitions. His style-of-play gives us additional options in attack.”
“VfB Stuttgart is a big club and I’m very happy to be here,” Bouanani himself added. “I followed the Bundesliga in France and I like the way VfB plays. I want to develop further and use my qualities to help us be successful as a team.“
