West Ham United have confirmed the signing of Soungoutou Magassa (21). The France youth international joins on a permanent deal from formative club AS Monaco.
Magassa has been linked with a move away from Monaco all summer. The midfielder would have faced increased competition, following the arrival of Paul Pogba earlier in the summer, whilst the Principality club have also been looking to raise funds through player sales before the closure of the window.
However, throughout the window, Monaco have been insistent on their valuations being met. Nottingham Forest showed significant interest but could not meet the €20m valuation. West Ham, however, did. The deal is worth €17m, with an extra €3m in add-ons.
West Ham did not confirm the length of the Frenchman’s contract, stating just that he had signed a “long-term” deal. As per Foot Mercato, he has joined on a four-year deal with the option for a further two years. He will wear the No.27 shirt.
