Angers have tonight confirmed that Sofiane Boufal (29) has left the club for Qatari outfit Al-Rayyan, where he has reportedly signed a deal lasting three and a half years.
Moroccan international teammates Boufal and Azzedine Ounahi had returned from their World Cup exploits with the Atlas Lions – where they reached the semi-finals, becoming the first ever African team to do so – as one of the potential movers of the transfer window. With Angers unable to hold on to them – the Anjou side are current bottom of Ligue 1 with twelve straight defeats – both have now moved on. Ounahi has left for Marseille, while Boufal has now moved to Qatar.
The attacking midfielder leaves his formative club again after two and a half seasons, having returned after his Premier League spell with Southampton, and notably found the net eight times last season in a return to his pre-England move form.
