FC Sochaux Montbéliard midfielder Skelly Alvero (21) has officially joined Lyon over a five-year deal, the club has announced. The Franco-Angolan is the first player to join Les Gones this summer transfer window. The Ligue 1 outfit will pay out a transfer fee of €4m with a further €1m in potential bonuses. Sochaux will receive ten percent of Alvero’s eventual resale. Lyon are being monitored by the DNCG – French football’s financial watchdog – over their transfer incomings. It appears the DNCG green-lit Alvero’s move to Lyon.
The 6’8″ midfielder is poised to add much-needed physicality to the Laurent Blanc-led side. Alvero was elected Ligue 2’s best breakout player last March. Coincidentally, he was born on May 4th, 2002 – the day where Olympique Lyonnais sealed their very first Ligue 1 title. “I am very happy to be joining the club today“, Alvero said. “I can’t wait to play with my teammates. OL are a big club, with ambition but which was not in its right place last season. I’m arriving with the hope of bringing it back to its rightful place.“
According to L’Équipe, Alvero will be joined by another defensive midfielder this summer transfer window, namely Renato Tapia from Celta Vigo.
