Simone Palombi has officially left Lazio and joined Serie B side Alessandria on a permanent deal.

As seen in an official statement released by Alessandria earlier today, the 25-year-old Italian forward has signed a multi-year contract with the Serie B side, who beat out persistent competition from fellow second-tier club Perugia.

Alessandria highlighted Palombi as the right option to strengthen the squad’s attack, with the player’s holdup play and movement impressing the Serie B club.

Palombi is a product of Lazio’s youth system but failed to make an impression in the first team, making only three first-team appearances total throughout his career.

The Biancocelesti are continuing to find new homes for a variety of redundant player, and this deal is one of many that’ll be completed over the coming weeks, especially as the club work to lower their overall wage bill.

Below is Alessandria’s official statement in full:

At the end of a long negotiation that saw many clubs involved in contending for his signing, forward Simone Palombi is a new Alessandria player.  He grew up in the football club Lazio, from which he comes with a permanent transfer, Palombi, 25 years old, has played with Salernitana, Ternana, Cremonese, Lecce and Pisa, where last season he played 35 times scoring 5 goals.  He has played 240 games in his career (including 137 in Serie B), scoring 87 goals. A warm welcome to Simone.
