Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund have this afternoon announced that Roman Bürki will leave the club at the end of the season for future MLS club St. Louis City SC.
The 31-year-old had a contract with Borussia Dortmund until 2023 but an agreement was reached to terminate their cooperation at the end of the current Bundesliga season.
“For seven years he always gave us his all,” said Borussia Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc. “Roman was our No. 1 for many years, is a professional and has won titles with us. These titles, these moments, will always be associated with him.
The past year-and-a-half has been anything but easy for Roman in terms of sport, but he’s always behaved professionally and served the team. We wish Roman all the best.”
Bürki has played 232 games in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund since joining from Freiburg in 2015.
