Bournemouth have confirmed that Romain Faivre (25) has been recalled from his loan spell at FC Lorient. The Frenchman will join his new teammates imminently and he could be in contention to face West Ham United on Thursday.

After a positive loan spell at Lorient last season, Les Merlus found themselves in a position where they couldn’t necessarily afford to make the Frenchman’s move from Olympique Lyonnais permanent. As a result, the club’s owner, who also owns Bournemouth, decided to sign the AS Monaco academy product for the Premier League club, before loaning him back to Lorient.

Faivre once again impressed for Les Merlus this season, scoring five goals in 17 appearances, but with Lorient struggling collectively (bottom of Ligue 1), the Frenchman’s relationship with Régis Le Bris deteriorated, according to L’Équipe.

The former Lyon player now returns to parent club Bournemouth, where he will wear the No.8 shirt. He will fill the void left by David Brooks, who has joined Southampton on loan.
