Roma star Paulo Dybala will undergo surgery in his semitendinosus tendon, the Giallorossi and the striker confirmed.
“Paulo Dybala will undergo surgery in the coming days following an injury to his left semitendinosus tendon,” Roma said in a statement on Thursday.
“The player and the club have mutually agreed that this is the best course of action for an optimal recovery. Wishing Paulo a speedy recovery – we look forward to seeing you back soon!”
Dybala sent a message to Roma and Argentina fans on Instagram.
“First of all I want to sincerly thank you for the love and support you always give me,” he wrote.
“After receiving the test results and evaluating different options I have decided to undergo a procedure now in order to return as soon as possible. Although I will be away from the pitch for a while, I want to continue to support my Roma teammates during this crucial phase of the season and cheer for our national team as just another fan in these qualification matches.
“I’ll be back soon, even stronger – I promise. See you soon on the pitch.
“Forza Roma and Vamos Argentina!”

Dybala was forced to be subbed off during Roma’s latest Serie A match against Cagliari.
He was already not fully fit, so he was introduced as a substitute in the second, but he only remained on the pitch for 12 minutes.
La Joya looked distraught after his substitution on Sunday as he was spotted fighting back the tears on the Roma bench.
The Argentinean striker was initially feared to remain out of action for at least one month, but the new recovery time will likely be confirmed after the striker’s surgery.
Dybala has scored eight goals and provided four assists in 36 appearances across all competitions this season.
