After being nominated for the award three times in a row, Robert Lewandowski has officially won the La Liga Player of the Month trophy for October.
The Pole scored five goals and gave two assists in six games in the league, taking his tally to 13 goals and four assists for the season in La Liga.
This is after Barcelona’s turbulent period this season, where they lost to Inter Milan, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and only narrowly took three points against Mallorca, Valencia, and Celta Vigo.
Barcelona have the highest tally of Player of the Month awards at 17 now, two clear off Atletico Madrid, who have 15.
Lionel Messi is responsible for 10 of those 17 wins, while Luis Suarez has lifted the trophy five times himself. Neymar and (now) Lewandowski have been awarded the honour once each.
Given Lewandowski’s form this season, this could the first of several he wins.
