Stade Rennais centre-forward Bertug Yildirim (22) has been loaned out to La Liga side Getafe, both clubs have announced. Yildirim’s loan move to the Azulones includes a €5m option to make his move permanent. The Turkey international remains tied with the Ligue 1 club with a contract set to expire in 2028, but Yildirim has been pushed towards the exit door by Les Rouge et Noir on the back of an underwhelming debut season with Stade Rennais. The 22-year-old only logged one goal, in the Europa League’s group stage, and two assists in 28 games for Rennes.

Yildirim was previously expected to join EFL Championship side Norwich City FC in a €7m move but the Canaries pulled out of the move following the player’s medical. Yildirim was deemed surplus to requirements at Rennes following the signing of Danish centre-forward Henrik Meister from Sarpsborg. The 20-year-old striker went off to a flyer in scoring for his competitive debut during Rennes’ 3-0 home win against Olympique Lyonnais.
