Lille have this afternoon announced that attacking midfielder Rémy Cabella has put pen to paper on a contract extension, that will take his time in the north of France up to 2025.

The former Montpellier man arrived on a free transfer this summer, on an initial one-year deal, and has established himself as one of Paulo Fonseca’s most consistent performers. In 27 appearances so far this season, Cabella has managed seven goals and registered nine assists.

The 33-year-old had expressed his desire to stay with Les Dogues midway through the season, and will now be looking to help the team clinch a spot in European football next season. Fonseca’s men currently sit in 5th place, which for the time being would send them to the Conference League – although that could change depending on whether Coupe de France winners Toulouse are barred by UEFA due to their shared ownership with Milan. The final five games of the season will see them face Reims, Monaco, Marseille, Nantes and Troyes.
