As Spain kick off their UEFA Nations League campaign later tonight against Serbia in Belgrade, manager Luis de la Fuente has announced the starting lineup for the contest.

And, Dani Carvajal, who happens to be the only Real Madrid player in the La Roja squad for the two matches in the current international break, starts in the team.

In fact, the veteran right-back will also captain the side tonight in the absence of regular skipper Alvaro Morata.

Carvajal has been a regular fixture in the Spain lineup in recent months and played a key role in the team’s UEFA Euro 2024 triumph.

Now, the Real Madrid star, who is among the top 30 nominees for the 2024 Ballon d’Or, will be hoping to build on that and help the Spanish national team start their Nations League title defence on a strong note.

Given that he is the most experienced player in the team tonight, a lot will be riding on Carvajal’s shoulders as Spain take on Serbia.
