Following the 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid on Sunday night, manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that Courtois was dealing with some muscle issue and that he would undergo tests today.

After being examined by the club’s medical department, it has been confirmed that the 32-year-old has indeed sustained an injury in the abductor muscle of his left leg.

While an exact timeline for his return has not been specified, as indicated in earlier reports, Courtois is expected to be out of action at least until the international break.

It would mean that the Belgian will certainly miss the upcoming matches against Lille and Villarreal before the international window arrives.

Whether he can make a comeback in time to face Celta Vigo on October 19 after the international break remains to be seen.
