This past weekend was a major blow for Real Madrid fitness-wise, as they lost as many as three players to injuries.
Eder Militao has ruptured his ACL and has seen his season get over already while Rodrygo Goes and Lucas Vazquez also suffered injuries.
Now, the Merengues have issued an official update on the injuries of the latter two players, confirming the nature of the problems.
Issuing an update on Rodrygo’s condition, Real Madrid put out a statement that read:
“Following the tests carried out today on our player Rodrygo by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the rectus femoris of his left leg. Pending evolution.”
On Vazquez’s condition, Real Madrid confirmed: “Following tests carried out today on our player Lucas Vazquez by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the long adductor muscle of his left leg. Pending evolution.”
Building on that, journalist Melchor Ruiz of COPE reports that Rodrygo will be out for a period of five to six weeks, while Vazquez will be sidelined for one month as well.
The situation leaves Real Madrid without a recognised right-back as Dani Carvajal is out for the season while Vazquez is also now out.
With Militao also unavailable, Carlo Ancelotti could be forced to use Fede Valverde as a makeshift right-back in the coming games after the international break.
As for Rodrygo, the Brazilian’s injury, just after he had returned from a recent fitness issue, comes off as a concern and leaves the attacking unit without a key player.
