As well as this, Leipzig were hoping to sign a winger as the Spaniard’s successor, with the club hoping to find a player that is capable of cutting inside into more dangerous central positions.

Despite interest in PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko and Olympique Lyonnais’ Rayan Cherki, Leipzig elected to secure the services of Nusa, who is part of the current Norwegian golden generation.

It is understood that Marco Rose’s side will pay Club Brugge €20–25.5 million for the 19-year-old, with the winger signing a five-year deal at the club, seeing him potentially remain in Germany until 2029.

Upon signing for Die Roten Bullen, Nusa commented:

“I am just incredibly proud to be at RB Leipzig and in the Bundesliga now. The club has shown me a clear vision and a clear path, which totally convinced me. It is, of course, a big step for me, but I am ready for it. RB Leipzig has developed into one of the top clubs in Europe and, above all, is one of the top addresses for young players. When I played here with Bruges in 2021, I was very impressed by the training centre and the academy, and of course I also saw the stadium. It is simply an outstanding feeling to be able to play there in front of over 45,000 fans in just a few days.”

“It is now important for me to integrate myself into the team quickly. But I am joining a very cool team with the perfect mix of young and experienced players and, above all, a clear playing philosophy: offensive, strong, fast, and counter-pressing. This fits perfectly with my qualities, and I’m really looking forward to playing with guys like Xavi Simons, Lois Openda, and Benjamin Sesko, who have already shown what they can do in their first season in Leipzig. I’m ready to get started!”

Leipzig will begin their 2024-25 campaign against Rot-Weiss Essen in the first round of the DFB-Pokal on Saturday afternoon, where Nusa may get given an opportunity to showcase his ability to the Leipzig faithful.
