France have called up Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani (23) to their World Cup squad following an injury to Red Bull Leipzig forward Christopher Nkunku (25) in Tuesday evening’s training session.

Nkunku was meant to fly out with the squad to Qatar today, but after undergoing medical tests on an injury sustained in training, a sprain to his left knee was revealed. Didier Deschamps is allowed to make injury-related changes to his squad until the day before Les Bleus’ first game of the tournament, which is against Australia on 22nd November.

Kolo Muani only has two caps for Les Bleus, earned during the last international break in September. During the two fixtures against Austria and Denmark, the former Nantes forward only accumulated nine minutes of playing time. However, since his move to Frankfurt on a free transfer this summer, he has performed well in the Bundesliga, scoring five goals and registering 10 assists in 14 games.

Kolo Muani is currently with his club in Japan and will join up with his international teammates in Qatar on Thursday.
