Manchester United have confirmed that goalkeeper Radek Vitek has put pen to paper on a new deal with the club and completed a loan move to a Championship side.
Vitek joined United in 2020 from his native Czech Republic and has progressed through the ranks, emerging as one of the best goalkeepers in the academy.
He made 22 appearances for United’s Under-21s between 2021 and 2023
The shot-stopper has had two previous loan spells – one at Accrington Stanley in League Two and most recently, at FC Blau-Weiss Linz in the Austrian Bundesliga.
Vitek made 18 appearances for Accrington. He turned out 37 times for FC Blau-Weiss Linz, playing a crucial role in their sixth-placed finish, the highest in the club’s history.
A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Vitek was closing in on a loan switch to Bristol City and now, the transfer has been confirmed.
But, United have announced that the 21-year-old has also penned a new deal.
A United statement read, “Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vitek has signed a new contract before joining Bristol City on loan for the 2025/26 season.”
“The 21-year-old has been training with the first team at Carrington and put pen-to-paper on a deal that runs until 2028.”
“Best of luck to Radek from everybody at the club, we’ll be watching your progress with interest.”
Reacting to his switch to Ashton Gate, Vitek remarked, “I’m really excited, for me the Championship is a new level. More games is a big positive for me and I can’t wait to get to know all the players and staff better.”
Technical director Brian Tinnion stated, “We’re really pleased to secure the services of Radek as we strengthen the goalkeeping department for the upcoming campaign.”
“He’s extremely well regarded at Manchester United and is a player we’re looking forward to working with.”
Bristol kickstart their Championship season on 9 August when they go away to Sheffield United.
