OGC Nice has officially announced the acquisition of 16-year-old Amidou Doumbouya from Sochaux. The signing was confirmed on Tuesday via Nice’s official social channels. As first reported by L’Équipe on Monday, Nice have successfully secured the services of the youngster Doumbouya who at the tender age of 16, hails from the youth academy of fallen National 1 side FC Sochaux. He has joined the Ligue 1 side for a reported €1m fee, including bonuses.
“The board presented me with the best sporting project. I’m very proud to be joining OGC Nice and I can’t wait to start this new adventure,” said Doumbouya on signing with Les Aiglons.
“Amidou had been approached by some of Europe’s biggest clubs. We are delighted that he has chosen OGC Nice. He’s a left-footed central defender with great potential,” said sporting director Florent Ghisolfi. Doumbouya has featured in 12 matches for France’s U16 squad.
