The NUFC Head Coach speaking a week and a half after that 4-0 thrashing of Tottenham.

Plus of course, Eddie Howe hoping to now pick up another three points at Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

This Tuesday morning Newcastle United injury update for Crystal Palace (and beyond…), Craig Hope of The Mail having relayed these key injury / availability messages from Eddie Howe:

Joe Willock – Not available for this Palace match and indeed Eddie Howe confirming that a ‘longer term view’ has been taken, with Willock not going to be risked again this season, to try and ensure he will be hitting the ground running at the start of next season.

Lewis Miley – The same as Joe Willock. Eddie Howe confirming a longer term view also taken with the 17 year old, with Miley not going to be seen again this season.

Callum Wilson – Better news on the NUFC number nine, as Eddie Howe states that the striker has trained ‘very well’ this week and so we should see him back in the matchday squad at Selhurst Park.

Kieran Trippier – Currently not involved in full training with the main group but Eddie Howe ‘hoping’ the England defender will play again before the season ends.

Nick Pope – Same as Trippier, as per Eddie Howe.

Joelinton – Another one the same, not back in full training yet but hopefully will play again this season.

Miguel Almiron – Completes a quartet of those not back training yet but ‘hope’ from Eddie Howe that he/they will play again this season.

Eddie Howe on Lewis Miley:

“The decision was made on Lewis to protect him long-term.

“We won’t see Lewis again this season.

“Even if there was a chance, we took that away quite early on with his age, we are just thinking about his long-term prospects.”

Eddie Howe on Callum Wilson:

“Callum has trained really well this week; it has been good to have him back.

“The energy and quality that he brings, he has come back looking really good.

“We anticipate he will be able to hit the ground running and make an impact for us.”

Eddie Howe on Joe Willock:

“We have decided that a period where he strengthens the area around his achilles will benefit him more.

“The long-term view was taken, we will get him right for next season.

“Surgery wouldn’t be beneficial for him in this situation.

“It is frustrating for Joe, but hopefully we can get to the situation where he is playing freely next season.”
