Nantes have this afternoon announced the signing of former French international midfielder Moussa Sissoko from Premier League side Watford, signing a two-year deal with last year’s Coupe de France winners.

This season, he played 36 games and scored twice in the English top flight as his club were relegated at the end of the season. He joins Les Canaris ahead of their Europa League campaign next season.

Sissoko, who came up through the academy at Toulouse, left French football in 2013 after six years with the southern team, spending nearly a decade across the channel as he played for Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur, and finally the Hornets.

The versatile 36-year-old will play under Antoine Kombouaré, who decided to extend his stay with Nantes after the cup win, and will look to keep hold of the core of his young squad after an impressive mid-table finish. He will now be aided by the experience of Sissoko.
