Nantes have announced the signing of Egyptian striker Mostafa Mohamed, who joins from Turkish side Galatasaray on a season-long loan deal with a permanent option.

Les Canaris were looking to reinforce their attacking options ahead of the coming season’s Europa League campaign, having been decimated in the off-season following the departures of Randal Kolo-Muani and Willem Geubbels, while Moses Simon could also leave.

As indicated by L’Équipe, Nantes had previously made an attempt to sign the former Zamalek man in 2020, having then submitted a €2.5m bid.

He has since been the subject of interest from across Ligue 1, having recently been linked with Reims and Toulouse as well, while Lyon and Saint-Étienne emerged as potential destinations in the January transfer window.

The Egypt international leaves having scored seven goals in the Süper Lig this season, in what was his first season as a Galatasaray player proper after spending the previous season on loan from his formative club and scoring eight goals.
