Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont (26) has been loaned out to Greek side Panathinaikos, both sides have announced. The 26-year-old goalie, who was once called up by France manager Didier Deschamps, will reunite in Athens with former Nantes midfielder and captain Pedro Chirivella. The deal is reportedly a straight loan, with no option to buy. Lafont remains tied with Nantes over a contract set to expire in 2027.

Lafont established himself as Nantes’ first-choice goalkeeper and went on to make 129 appearances for the club, before falling out of favour under former head coach Antoine Kombouaré last season. His final appearance for Nantes came in November 2024 in a 2-0 loss to Le Havre AC. Kombouaré then relied on Patrik Carlgren before Anthony Lopes joined from Lyon as the established No. 1.
