Olympique Lyonnais have confirmed the arrival of Moussa Niakhaté (28) from Nottingham Forest in what is a club-record signing for the Ligue 1 side.

Lyon have already been busy in the transfer window as they look to bolster their squad ahead of a UEFA Europa League campaign this season. The loans of Orel Mangala and Saïd Benrahma have been made permanent, whilst Thiago Almada will join the club in January.

Niakhaté now bolsters OL’s backline. In a press release from Eagle Football, the owners of the Ligue 1 club, it was confirmed that the Senegal international had joined in a deal worth €31.9m, thus making him the most expensive signing in the history of the club. He has joined Les Gones on a four-year deal.

Alongside him, there could be outgoings with Dejan Lovren and Sinaly Diomandé expected to depart, whilst Jake O’Brien, who arrived for €1m last summer, could be allowed to leave should a strong offer arrive.
