RC Lens have announced the signing of M’Bala Nzola (27) from Fiorentina on a loan deal with an option to purchase. The amount that Lens could pay has not been disclosed by either club nor has any fee been leaked in reports on the deal.
Nzola started his career in the ESTAC Troyes youth academy but swapped France for Portugal joining the Académica de Coimbra system. It was there that Nzola became a professional player but he never made a professional appearance for the club.
His debut would instead come for Sertanense FC before he moved to Virtus Francavilla in Italy beginning a journey that saw the Angolan international bounce around Italian clubs before landing at Fiorentina last summer.
Nzola struggled at La Viola where he was largely used as an option off the bench. In 33 appearances, Nzola scored and assisted three times. However, at Lens, he will likely be provided far more game time with Elye Wahi (22) linked with a move away this summer.
