Rennes striker Martin Terrier (27) has officially joined Bayer Leverkusen, both clubs have announced. The 27-year-old has put pen to paper over a five-year deal with the Bundesliga champions. Bayer Leverkusen’s transfer fee for Martin Terrier is expected to rise to €22m. The Lille youth product left Rennes’ training camp at Dinard on Wednesday. He flew to Germany on Thursday to complete his medical with this new team.
A couple of weeks ago, Martin Terrier dropped hints that he was seriously considering his future at Rennes, with which he was under contract until 2026. The winger, who can also play as an attacking midfielder or a centre-forward, will have his first experience abroad after playing for Lille, Strasbourg, Lyon and Rennes. Under the tutelage of Xabi Alonso, Martin Terrier will reunite with former Rennes centre-back Jeanuël Belocian (19). The 27-year-old is expected to wear the #11 jersey with the Bundesliga champions.
