Olympique de Marseille have officially confirmed the signing of Lilian Brassier (24) from Stade Brestois. The French centre-back becomes the second recruit after Ismaël Koné (22) to walk through the doors of La Commanderie this summer, as the club prepare for a new project under Roberto De Zerbi.
Brassier joins Marseille on a loan deal with an obligation to buy. The transfer fee has not yet been confirmed by either club but it is thought to be around €11 million. The centre-back will sign a 5-year contract as Marseille look to make the young defender a core part of a new era.
Last season was a breakout campaign for Brassier where he earned widespread recognition for his performances in a team that recorded a historic feat by qualifying for the Champions League.
However, Brassier will not get to experience European football for the first time with Les Pirates instead electing to join Marseille as they try and plot a route back into European football.
