Manchester United have confirmed that goalkeeper Elyh Harrison has sealed a loan move to Chester, where he will spend the 2024/25 season.

United announced in an official statement, “Manchester United goalkeeper Elyh Harrison is set to spend the season with Chester.”

“Harrison is likely to still spend some time at Carrington training with the Reds, in addition to representing Chester as he furthers his education between the posts.”

“Congratulations on the move, Elyh, and we will be tracking your progress with interest over the course of the campaign!”

Harrison joined United at the age of 16 from Stevenage and put pen to paper on his first professional contract with the Red Devils in March 2023.

He signed his pro deal immediately after turning 17 – the earliest possible time a young player is allowed to be handed pro terms. This is evidence of how highly-rated he is within Old Trafford.

Last term, the shot-stopper regularly featured for the U21s and U18s.

He enjoyed an impressive campaign which saw him named Reserve Player of the Year.

His performances were crucial as the United U18s clinched victory over Manchester City in the PL Cup.

Harrison also enjoyed outings in the FA Youth Cup, UEFA Youth League and EFL Trophy over the course of the 2023/24 term.

In addition to saving shots, the 18-year-old’s other strengths include playing with the ball at his feet and distribution – attributes that are needed in a modern goalkeeper these days.

Hopefully, Harrison’s switch to the Deva Stadium will see him gain valuable first-team experience as he seeks to break into the United senior squad in the near future.
