As communicated on their official website, Manchester City have completed the signing of Sergio Gómez from Anderlecht.

It is believed that The Sky Blues paid €13 million plus add-ons to secure the services of the 21-year-old. He signed a four-year contract with the club.

After coming off second best in the race to sign Marc Cucurella, the Premier League champions turned their attention to Gómez.

Initial reports suggested that the left-back would become a Manchester City player before being loaned out to Girona. However, it appears as though Pep Guardiola is counting on Gómez in the club’s senior squad and will fill the void left by Oleksandr Zinchenko, who departed to Arsenal earlier this summer.

Gómez came through La Masia, but he never made an appearance for the Barcelona senior side. He played at Borussia Dortmund and Huesca before signing for Anderlecht in 2021. He made 49 appearances for the Belgian outfit in all competitions last season.
