Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has decided to leave Rasmus Hojlund out of the team’s first Premier League matchday squad of the 2025-26 season, handing a boost to Milan in their pursuit of the former Atalanta striker.
Milan have been chasing a deal for Hojlund for several weeks as they look to bring in a new striker to compete and rotate with Santiago Gimenez, who is currently the only senior striker in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad.
According to reports earlier this weekend, Hojlund is still undecided either way over his future at Old Trafford, but there have been suggestions that he is opening up to the possibility of joining Milan this summer.

What is becoming clear is that there is little room for the Denmark international in the current Manchester United squad following the arrivals of attackers Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko this summer.
Hojlund was recently left on the bench for the entirety of a pre-season run-out against Fiorentina at Old Trafford, which multiple outlets took as a sign that his opportunities under Amorim are set to become increasingly limited.

Now, for the first Premier League game of the 2025-26 season, Hojlund has been left out of the matchday squad altogether as United prepare to take on Arsenal at Old Trafford.
As per Calciomercato.com, it is now up to Hojlund to decide whether to leave Manchester this summer, or whether to stay put and fight for his place in an environment where his opportunities will be limited.
