Manchester United have officially announced that interim Chief Executive Officer Patrick Stewart and Chief Financial Officer Cliff Baty will leave the club at the end of the season.

Stewart, who has been on United’s payroll since 2006, replaced Richard Arnold as the club’s CEO on an interim basis at the start of the year.

He initially started as a legal counsel for the Red Devils before working his way up the food chain.

Stewart helped to turn United into the commercial and revenue-generating behemoth it currently is today, despite the club’s underperformance on the pitch since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.

Meanwhile, Baty was named United’s Chief Financial Officer in 2016. The Oxford graduate was then appointed to the board of directors by the Glazers the following year.

United have now issued a statement via the club’s official website that Stewart and Baty’s respective tenures have come to and end and both will leave as soon as the current 2023/24 comes to and end.

The club’s statement reads, “By mutual consent, Patrick Stewart, interim Chief Executive Officer, and Cliff Baty, Chief Financial Officer, have decided to leave the club at the end of the season.”

“Patrick will be replaced as CEO by Jean-Claude Blanc until the arrival of Omar Berrada on 13 July. Cliff Baty will be replaced as CFO by Roger Bell.”

Joel Glazer said about the duo, “I would like to thank Patrick and Cliff for their dedicated service to Manchester United and wish them well for the future.

“Both have been a source of invaluable advice and expertise over many years, and Patrick has served an important role as interim CEO during this transitional phase.”

New United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe also had a word. The INEOS billionaire remarked, “I would like to personally thank both Patrick and Cliff for their support in helping us get to know the club and making us feel welcome and I respect their decisions to now move on as we establish a new management team for the club.”

The exits of Stewart and Baty are unlikely to be the first as Ratcliffe’s reshuffle of the top brass gathers pace.
