After, a saga that had a multitude of competing bids, a late hijack attempt, and finally administrative errors, Olympique Lyonnais have confirmed the signing of Saïd Benrahma (28) from West Ham United on a loan deal with an option to buy.
The deal looked like it had collapsed when Lyon announced that West Ham had failed to enter the administrative data into FIFA’s Transfer Management System (TMS).
However, the club noted that it would be looking at their options to validate the deal at a later date, as they appealed to FIFA that the circumstances were out of their hands.
The following day, it was revealed that Lyon’s arguments had swayed FIFA, and following approval from the French Football Federation and the Football Association, the three organisations greenlit the club to progress with their move.
Benrahma will now put an end to this long-lasting saga and join up with his new team in a crucial final stretch for Les Gones as the side hope that an active winter transfer window has provided the squad with enough depth to steer them clear of the relegation zone.
