Stade Brestois 29 has announced the signing of Mainz centre-forward Ludovic Ajorque (30). The 30-year-old French striker is making a return to Ligue 1 after spending four and a half seasons at RC Strasbourg between 2019 and 2023. The Angers youth product previously signed for Bundesliga side Mainz 18 months ago. The Réunion-born Ajorque only logged nine goals and one assist in 46 appearances for Mainz.
Brest were in the market for a centre-forward after Steve Mounié (29) left Eric Roy’s side as a free agent to sign for Bundesliga side Augsburg. Les Pirates were reportedly competing with Ligue 1 rivals Lille for the signing of Ajorque, whose transfer fee ranges between €4m and €5m. Ajorque will wear the #19 jersey for his new team. Brest are set to play in the revamped 8-game Champions League group stage courtesy of their unexpected third-place finish last season.
