Adrian Grbic (27) has joined FC Lucerne on loan from FC Lorient. The Austrian striker joins the Swiss side on a deal that includes the option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Since arriving from Clermont Foot for a considerable €9m fee back in the summer of 2020, Grbic has failed to live up to his price tag. The Austrian international (nine caps, four goals) has played 56 times for Les Merlus but has scored a mere six goals in that time. He has also been loaned out to Ligue 2 side Valenciennes FC (14 appearances, nine goals) and Vittese Arnhem (22 appearances, one goal).

This season, Grbic has played just 30 minutes for Régis Le Bris’ struggling Lorient side. Those minutes came in a 3-2 defeat against FC Metz in late November. The striker is out of the picture at Lorient and with the Swiss window still open, an option was found to send him on loan to Lucerne. He joins the Swiss side on loan, and there is an option to make the move permanent.
