Official: Lionel Messi, Angel di Maria start for Argentina vs France; World Cup final | OneFootball

After a tightly contested 120 minutes ended in defeat for Argentina in 2014 against Germany, Lionel Messi has another shot at glory as La Albiceleste take on France at the Lusail Iconic Stadium for the 2022 World Cup final.

The lineups for both teams have been released, with Didier Deschamps lining up with his first-choice starting lineup despite reports of injury, flu, and whatnot.

Argentina receive a huge boost ahead of the game, with Angel di Maria reportedly given medical clearance for the game. The Paris Saint-Germain winger did not start any of their knockout games.

Lionel Messi, too, gets the start, playing alongside Julian Alvarez in attack. They will be guarded by the back three of Enzo Fernandez, Alexis Mac Allister, and Rodrigo de Paul in central midfield.

After serving a suspension in the previous game, Marcos Acuna was touted to return to the starting lineup at left-back. But a last-minute change due to physical discomfort has seen Nicolas Tagliaifico get the nod again.

Nahuel Molina starts at right-back after an impressive showing through the tournament. Cristian Romero and Nicolas Otamendi take guard in central defence, screening the brilliant Emiliano Martinez in goal.
