Despite club football being in the midst of a hiatus, it was a promising evening for Barcelona players, who were representing their national colors.

Lamine Yamal will be stealing all the headlines after his dazzling display against Brazil, as he recorded an assist and earned a standing ovation from the Santiago Bernabeu for his exceptional performance.

However, his compatriot in attack, Robert Lewandowski, crafted his own memorable chapter on the international stage as Poland triumphed over Wales in a cagey encounter decided by penalties.

The veteran forward stepped up to take the first penalty and calmly rolled the ball into the bottom left corner of goal.

Lewandowski will be present in the upcoming Euros

Indeed, the victory over Wales has secured Poland and Lewandowski’s qualification for the Euros, slated to be held in Germany this summer.

Having missed out on qualification last time around, this marks a significant milestone for Lewandowski and his nation.

The 35-year-old has been in scintillating form since the turn of the year, notably contributing to 15 goals in 2024 thus far.

Following back-to-back masterclasses against Napoli and Atletico Madrid, Lewandowski extended his form in the international break, registering an assist against Estonia just recently.

Now, the former Bayern Munich man will be eager to conclude the season on a high note, with Barcelona having a fair shot of making it far in the Champions League.

In the event Barça brings home the elusive Champions League trophy and Poland does well in the Euros, Lewandowski will certainly be poised to be one of the frontrunners for the Ballon d’Or.

No intention of leaving

Recently, reports argued that Lewandowski has rejected a whopping €100 million proposal from an unnamed Saudi Arabian club.

The striker is content and at ease in Barcelona, and as a result, he is not currently considering hitting the exit door.

Meanwhile, Barcelona shares similar sentiments, as the club is pleased with both his on-field accomplishments and his leadership.
