RC Lens have officially announced that they have blocked Morgan Guilavogui’s (27) transfer to St Pauli FC after the Bundesliga side triggered their purchase clause. The French club had the option to veto the deal and prevent the forward from leaving permanently after he spent the season on loan at St Pauli.

Guilavogui had struggled previously in his one season at Lens during the 2023/24 season. He had been bought by the Artesian club after a successful campaign in Ligue 2 with ESTAC Troyes, but failed to translate his abilities into the top tier of French football.

The forward managed only three starts with Lens before he was sent off on loan to St Pauli. In Germany, he had a far better time and was a frequent presence within the team, scoring seven and assisting four in 27 appearances across all competitions.

It’s expected that he will play a bigger role at Lens during the new campaign, with the club noting that he will join up with the squad for preseason.
