Official: La Liga star signs for Arsenal | OneFootball

The long-awaited announcement regarding Real Sociedad star Martín Zubimendi’s move to England with Arsenal has on Sunday finally arrived.

The name of midfielder Zubimendi has of course long been a prominent one in the headlines across Spain and England alike.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the aforementioned Arsenal had made the call to activate the Spanish international’s release clause.

Despite initial reports of as much having surfaced several months ago, though, official confirmation of the transfer, before today, was yet to arrive.

Owing to as much, murmurs had begun to spread that the transfer was perhaps not as sure a thing as previously suggested.

As alluded to above, though, on Sunday, any such doubts have been put to bed once and for all.

As per a statement across the official social media platforms of Real Sociedad:

‘Martín Zubimendi has been transferred to Arsenal. 236 matches living the dream of every San Sebastian-born player. Forever txuri urdin. Thank you and good luck, Martin!’
