Angers SCO have announced the signing of Emmanuel Biumla (19) and Jacques Ekomié (20) on free transfers following their release from FC Girondins de Bordeaux.

Following Bordeaux’s bankruptcy, all players from the first team and academy have been released from their contracts. Clubs around Europe are evaluating potential good opportunities as Mathys Angély is gathering interest from the Premier League and Ligue 1, while star player Pedro Diaz is linked to a return to Spain. Targeted by RC Lens, Biumla ultimately decided to join newly-promoted Ligue 1 side Angers, where he is likely to have more game time. Last season, the 19-year-old centre back took part in eight games with the first team, emerging in Albert Riera’s starting XI, but his progression has been slowed down in the second half of the season due to a hamstring injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the season in February.

The left-footed centre back will be joined by Ekomié, who had a meteoric rise last season, taking part in 25 games across all competitions and fighting with Vital Nsimba (31) for the left-back starting spot. The Gabon international impressed and was one of Bordeaux’s biggest talents. With Ekomié and Biumla, Angers realised a massive operation on the transfer market.
