Wales international midfielder Jordan James (20) has officially left Birmingham City for Rennes, both clubs have announced. Les Rouge et Noir reportedly submitted a €5m bid to the League One outfit and the latter has accepted it. James underwent his medical with his newest club this Monday morning once personal terms had been agreed. The versatile 20-year-old midfielder is the sixth signing of Rennes during this summer transfer window following the arrivals of Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal, Albert Gronbaek, Glen Kamara, Leo Ostigard and Hans Hateboer.
Rennes were in the market for a midfielder following the departure of Enzo Le Fée to Roma and the doubts surrounding the future of Benjamin Bourigeaud in Brittany. James left Birmingham City after making 105 appearances for his formative club. The 11-time Wales international logged ten goals and two assists in total for the Blues. He has signed a four-year deal with Stade Rennais. James might make his Rennes debut this Sunday with Les Rouge et Noir hosting Olympique Lyonnais for the first gameweek of the Ligue 1 season.
